Training requirements when using ActSafe Ascender

A Power Ascender must be handled with the utmost care and therefore requires experience, expertise and a thorough knowledge of its capabilities and limitations. When using an ActSafe Ascender, you must first undergo training. This training can be carried out at Skylotec or at an authorised training partner or reseller. In other words, you can complete the training with us at ProAccess as we are an authorised service workshop and training centre. Read more about the training here.

A motorised rope winch must be checked by a person with adequate training, experience and certification before each use. At least once a year, the equipment must also be inspected by a person authorised by ActSafe or by ActSafe itself.

ActSafe ACX Power Ascender

A revolution for working at height

The ACX Power Ascender is a new addition from ActSafe. The ACX Ascender is a versatile lifting device for lifting people or equipment in a safe and efficient way. Its motorised system ensures the transport of people or loads to areas that are difficult to access and where temporary or repetitive work is carried out. Expensive access systems and lifting platforms are no longer a necessity as the motorised rope winch both simplifies and speeds up work on complex structures significantly. This makes the ACX Power Ascender revolutionary for working in vertical environments.

Frequently asked questions

  • What is a power ascender (rope winch)?

  • A power ascender acts as a personal lift that climbs up a standard rope. It is a versatile and robust tool that can be used in places where it is difficult or impossible to use a skylift, crane, scaffold or platform. The ActSafe Power Ascender allows for quick installation and dismantling, minimising downtime. Repair and maintenance can be done in a way that is fast, safe and cheaper. When ActSafe Power Ascender was launched in 1997, it revolutionised the rope access industry. The traditional manual climbing methods can now be done with a powered climbing aid, allowing quick and cost-effective access to a work or rescue site.

  • Do I need training to use a power ascender?

  • Users of ActSafe Power Ascenders must undergo proper training. ActSafe ascenders allow access to heights and depths in a very fast, safe and reliable way. The winches are very easy to implement within different working practices and are invaluable in locations where access is difficult or impossible by other means. Due to the diversity of use in different areas and circumstances, training is essential. Working at height or in places with difficult or limited access requires great skill and such standards can only be achieved as a result of extensive training and regular refresher courses.
