Requirements for mast work

According to the mast regulations, it is forbidden to work on masts and towers alone. At least two people must be present at all times to ensure safety and enable rescue operations if necessary. Anyone carrying out mast work needs mast training, which leads to a mast certificate.

Many masts and towers are equipped with ladderways that have a fall protection system in the form of a wire or rail. This system is connected with a slide lock so that you as a worker can lock the system immediately in case of a fall. If there is no in-built fall protection, you can use a double fall arrest line with safety hooks for safe climbing.

The requirements for carrying out mast work are

  • Education and training: To be authorised to work on masts, you need mast training, which will give you a mast certificate as a proof of your competence.
  • Health check: Before carrying out mast work, you will need to undergo a health check to ensure that you are physically and mentally fit.

Master's programmes and certificates

Become a safe and skilled worker in masts and towers. Our professional master's degree is offered by ProAccess, the owner of our business, at Northern Europe's premier training centre. After completing the course, you will receive a master certificate confirming your competence.

After two intensive training days, you will have all the knowledge you need to safely climb and work at heights. The training covers legislation, work environment, risk assessment, handling different types of masts and towers, climbing techniques and the use of safety equipment, as well as rescue methods for both yourself and others.
