Petzl ASAP’SORBER AXESS – energy absorber for rescue operations
The Petzl ASAP’SORBER AXESS is an energy absorber designed for use with mobile fall arrest systems Petzl ASAP and ASAP LOCK. The energy absorber is positioned between the fall arrest device and the user’s harness and helps to limit the force transmitted to the user in the event of a fall.
ASAP’SORBER AXESS is specially designed for rescue situations where the system can support the weight of two people. It can be used with a total load of up to 250 kg, enabling a rescuer to work alongside a person in distress using a compatible ASAP system. The energy absorber also provides greater distance between the user and the rope. This offers greater freedom of movement and makes it possible to keep the rope away from the work area.
Energy absorption takes place when a specially designed web is torn apart during a fall. The energy absorber is housed in a protective casing with an opening mechanism, which allows it to be inspected whilst remaining protected against wear and dirt during use. The ends are fitted with STRING, which helps to keep the carabiners in the correct position and protects the attachment loops from wear and tear.
Compatibility with the ASAP system
ASAP’SORBER AXESS is compatible with Petzl ASAP and Petzl ASAP LOCK and is primarily intended for use when the system needs to be operated by two people during a rescue operation.
For normal use of ASAP or ASAP LOCK as well as with one person, there is also ASAP’SORBER. The choice of energy absorber, lanyard and other equipment depends on the intended use of the complete system and the certification requirements.
Always follow Petzl’s instructions for use for the specific combination of components.
