Petzl ASAP LOCK – portable fall arrest system for rope access work
The Petzl ASAP LOCK is a mobile fall arrest device for use on ropes during, for example, rope access work and work at height. During normal movement, the device automatically follows the user up and down the rope without the need for manual operation.
In the event of a fall or an uncontrolled descent at a rate exceeding two metres per second, the locking mechanism is activated and the ASAP LOCK blocks the rope to stop the fall. The device is designed to lock even if the user grabs hold of it whilst falling.
The integrated LOCK function allows the rope to be locked in a specific position. It can be used to reduce the potential fall distance when the user is working close to the ground or an obstacle. The function can also prevent the rope from being blown upwards through the device when working in strong winds.
ASAP LOCK can be used on vertical, horizontal and angled ropes. It is fitted and removed directly onto the rope, and the safety catches make installation easier. It can also remain attached to the harness when it is detached from the rope, which reduces the risk of the device being dropped, for example, when passing intermediate anchor points.
Used in conjunction with an energy absorber
The ASAP LOCK must be used in conjunction with a compatible Petzl ASAP’SORBER energy absorber.
For use by a person weighing up to 140 kg, the ASAP’SORBER 20 or 40 can be used. In rescue situations involving two people and a total load of up to 250 kg, the following is used ASAP’SORBER AXESS.
