The RIG is a compact self-braking belay device designed for experienced rope access and technical rescue operations. The ergonomic design and smooth handle provide very good control when descending and make it comfortable to use even during long working days on ropes.
Rope installation is quick and easy thanks to clear markings and integrated rope guide. The opening side cover allows the rope to be fitted without disconnecting the unit from the harness, making it easier to pass through intermediate anchors. When the rope is removed from the unit, the handle automatically returns to the storage position to reduce the risk of it getting caught in equipment or structures.
The RIG is equipped with Petzl's AUTO-LOCK function that automatically locks the device when the handle is released. This makes it easy to position yourself while working without having to manually lock or untie the system. When the rope is locked, it is also possible to make shorter ascents by feeding the rope through the unit without using the handle.
The lashing device can be used in several different ways depending on the work situation. The rope can run over the side plate or through the V-shaped friction channel for increased control and reduced risk of twisted rope. The RIG can be used both connected to the harness and directly to an anchor and also works for belaying with techniques derived from climbing.
The updated design provides improved durability for intensive use. Reinforcements in the friction zone help reduce wear on the side plate and the optimised cam shape improves rope grip while limiting wear on the unit.
RIG is now available in both a standard version and a new repairable version. The Repairable model is designed for users who work hard on their equipment and want to extend the life of the product. On this model, the cam and shaft can be replaced using a separate repair kit.
