Petzl NEST – rescue stretcher for hard-to-reach environments
The Petzl NEST is a rescue stretcher designed for transporting injured people in hard-to-reach environments. The stretcher has been developed in collaboration with the French cave rescue organisation and is designed for rescue situations where the person needs to be transported through, for example, confined or difficult-to-access areas.
NEST is designed for people weighing up to 150 kg and measuring between 150 and 190 cm in height. The stretcher’s design makes it possible to position and secure the person in NEST even when they are wearing a harness, which is particularly useful during rescues from heights or using ropes.
Secure and adjustable fastening
NEST features flexible straps with FAST LT PLUS buckles that enable the patient to be secured to the stretcher. The buckles’ locking system reduces the risk of accidental opening, and the straps are designed to be easy to use even when wearing gloves.
Reversible comfort padding at the back limits water absorption, whilst positioning cushions at the thighs and feet can be adjusted to suit different body types. The design is such that the securing system can be used even when the person is already wearing a harness.
Designed for demanding rescue environments
The stretcher’s handles are reinforced with HMPE for a better grip and increased durability. The smooth, rigid plastic underside makes it easier to drag or manoeuvre the stretcher across the floor.
The longitudinal bars and transverse plates can be removed to reduce the stretcher’s bulk during transport to the scene of the emergency. At the same time, the structure is reinforced by the straps running continuously through the stretcher’s attachment points.
Accessories for NEST
NEST can be supplemented with the Petzl STEF, which is used to adjust the stretcher’s angle to suit the terrain during transport.
There is also a separate Storage and protective case for NEST. Both the STEF and the bag are accessories and are not included as standard with the stretcher.
A pack of four longitudinal bars is also available as a spare part.
