Petzl I’D EVAC – descent device for evacuation and rescue
The Petzl I’D EVAC is a self-braking descent device designed primarily to lower a person or load from an anchor point. The handle is positioned so that the user can easily manage the load from the anchor and control the descent speed.
The lowering device has AUTO-LOCK, which means that the rope locks automatically when the handle is released. The user therefore does not need to lock the handle manually or make an extra knot to keep the rope locked. When the system is locked, it is also possible to retrieve the rope without using the handle, which can, for example, be used to build a reversible hoisting system.
An integrated anti-panic function automatically stops the descent if the user pulls too hard on the handle. The I’D EVAC also features a safety mechanism that reduces the risk of accidents if the rope has been fitted incorrectly in the device. Markings and rope guides help the user to fit the rope correctly.
The movable side plate has a safety catch that allows the rope to be fitted whilst the I’D EVAC is still connected to the anchor point. The side plate can also be locked in place with a screw, enabling the descent device to be permanently integrated into, for example, an evacuation system.
To adjust the friction according to the weight of the load and the diameter of the rope, there is an additional open braking point. The wear area through which the rope runs is also reinforced with stainless steel for increased durability.
The Petzl I’D EVAC is compatible with ropes with a diameter of 10-11.5 mm. The maximum workload is 140 kg for one person and up to 250 kg when used for rescue operations, in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions for use.
