⚠️ SAFETY ALERT - Petzl Astro ⚠️

Petzl has issued a safety alert concerning certain ASTRO harnesses. This is important to take seriously if you use the model in your work.

In short, it means that a component in the ventral attachment point can wear out faster than expected, which in the worst case can lead to it opening under load.

What is the problem?

The screws in the ventral D-ring are affected. On harnesses with serial numbers below 23J 9999999 999 there is a risk that these will wear out prematurely.

If the problem is not addressed, it can lead to serious consequences in the worst case scenario.

Does this affect your harness?

You can easily check if your harness is covered:

What do you need to do?

2. replace the component
You can make the change yourself following Petzl's instructions.

Can the harness be used in the meantime?

It depends on how your harness looks right now:

  • Med shackle installed: can be used temporarily
  • Without shackles: taken out of use until you make the change

Important to consider

  • The measure is mandatory according to Petzl
  • No accidents have been reported, but the measure will still be implemented
  • Don't wait unnecessarily - check your equipment as soon as possible
