What damping do I need?

The maximum permissible sound volume to be exposed to in the workplace is 85 dB. To calculate the attenuation level you need on your hearing protectors, do the following: Noise level in dB - 85 dB = attenuation requirement E.g. 118 dB - 85 dB = 33 dB which gives X3 or X4.
