Store your equipment properly

After a long shift, it can be tempting to throw your equipment in the back of your car or leave it at the workplace, but leaving your equipment exposed to the elements is a serious safety risk. That's why we've put together some storage tips.

Four quick storage tips

Taking care of your fall protection equipment through proper storage not only extends its lifespan, but also ensures that it works optimally when you need it most. By following our storage tips, you can prevent accidents and maintain high safety standards in your workplace.

1. Hang the harness or put it in a bag

Make sure to hang up your harness or store it in a bag to avoid damage and other external influences. Sharp tools and other objects can damage the harness if they are stored together. Therefore, it is important to remove the tools from the harness and put them in a separate tool bag.

2. Protect against the elements

Store the equipment in a cool and dry place. Exposure to UV rays can weaken the material of the equipment, which can lead to it not working optimally when it is needed most. Therefore, you should avoid leaving your equipment outdoors or in direct sunlight for extended periods.

3. Check regularly

Don't forget to inspect your fall protection equipment regularly to ensure that it has no visible damage or signs of wear. If you notice any problems, you will need to replace the equipment immediately to ensure it is working properly. If you are unsure about this, we offer inspection of fall protection.

4. Clean and maintain

It is also important to keep your equipment clean and free of dirt and chemicals. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations for cleaning and maintenance to extend the life of your fall protection equipment. If you need more tips on this, you can read more in our cleaning guide.

Never leave your equipment outside

How does equipment deteriorate when left outdoors? Equipment exposed to extreme conditions such as heat, rain, cold and direct sunlight deteriorates faster. Heat can weaken materials, rain can lead to rust and mould, cold can make plastics and rubber brittle, and UV radiation from sunlight can break down synthetic fibres.
